| New Mexico Engineering Foundation Scholarships |
| The New Mexico Engineering Foundation offers both university and high school scholarships. University scholarships are primarily offered in the spring and are designated for students majoring in engineering, math, or science at a New Mexico college or university. The Conrad G. Keyes, Jr., PE/PS Scholarship is also offered in the fall. High school scholarships are offered in the spring and are designated for graduating high school seniors at New Mexico high schools who plan to pursue undergraduate degrees in engineering, math, or science. The application deadline for all Spring scholarships is March 1, 2009. |

AMERICAN COUNCIL OF ENGINEERING COMPANIES OF NEW MEXICO- $750 |
| The ACEC/NM scholarship was established to provide education assistance to students interested in the business and management of an engineering practice.
Criteria and selection:
- The applicant must be entering their junior, senior or fifth year in the fall in an ABET-approved engineering program or in an accredited land-surveying program.
-The entire application should include a letter of about 500 words on one of the following topics: What is a consulting engineer or land surveyor? OR Why should you consider a career as a consulting engineer or land surveyor?
Your interest, understanding and commitment to the business and management of the profession are important and should be reflected in the essay.
Selection of the scholarship recipient will be determined by the New Mexico Engineering Foundation Scholarship Committee. |

BRYCE ROWEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP--$1000 Society of American Military Engineers, Albuquerque Post |
| The Bryce Rowan Scholarship was established by the Albuquerque Post, Society of American Military Engineers in memory of Bryce Rowan, an active member of SAME for many years, who passed away in 1997. The applicant must be a junior or senior enrolled in an engineering program at UNM, NMSU or NMTech. Special consideration is given to a non-scholarship ROTC student. Selection is made by the NMEF Scholarship Committee with participation of the Albuquerque Post, Society of American Military Engineers. |

CABOT SUPERIOR MICROPOWDERS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP--$2000 |
| The Cabot Corporation and the Cabot Foundation have established a scholarship for a deserving student pursuing an education in engineering. The applicant must be a junior or senior enrolled in an engineering program at UNM, NMSU or NMTech. The student will be selected for the award based on academic standing, participation in extra curricular activities, evidence of leadership, character and self-reliance.
-Applicant must be a New Mexico college student.
-Applicant must be a citizen of the United States.
-Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA during the previous two semesters |

CONRAD G. KEYES, JR., PE, PS,SCHOLARSHIP - $750 |
| The Keyes Scholarship was established in 1993 by the Conrad G. Keyes, Jr. family. Dr. Keyes is former head of the Civil, Agricultural, Geological Engineering (CAGE) Department at New Mexico State University, and long-term professor of water resources in that department. Dr. Keyes is retired from NMSU, and presently is an At-large Member of the NM Water Quality Control Commission and a self-employed environmental and water resources consultant. He is the immediate Past President of the Environmental & Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The Conrad G. Keyes Jr. scholarship can be awarded as either an individual scholarship for an NMSU student or as a grant for a qualifying student chapter at NMSU. For an individual scholarship, the applicant must be a full time student enrolled at NMSU in the CAGE Department or the surveying department, and must be a current and active member of ASCE, AGC, ASAE, SME, Chi Epsilon or ACSM/NSPS student chapters at the time of the award. For a student chapter grant, the grant must be for a designated project or program of one of the chapters mentioned above.
Selection will be made on the basis of a letter of application addressed to the Keyes family. |

DOLORES RODOLPH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP -$500 |
| The Dolores A. Rodolph Memorial Scholarship was established in 2002 by the Carl Rodolph family to honor the life and memory of Dolores Rodolph, wife and mother of six. A woman of strong faith and great character, she weathered countless struggles associated with motherhood, breast cancer, and raising a child with a disability. She left a legacy of love, kindness, and untiring efforts toward excellence. This scholarship is available to undergraduate engineering students at UNM, NMSU and NM Tech. Selection is based upon financial need and academic achievement. |

FRANK BOLEK, PE, MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP -$500 |
| ASCG Incorporated, formerly Leedshill-Herkenhoff, chose to establish this scholarship in memory of Frank W. Bolek. Mr. Bolek received his M.S.M.E. from the University of New Mexico in 1965. He worked for ASCG Incorporated as the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department from August 1987 until his death on September 8, 1992, after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Bolek was a talented and conscientious man who strove for higher levels of achievement through his work. ASCG Incorporated would like this same spirit to continue so that others have an opportunity to contribute their talents to the community. Applicants must be New Mexico residents enrolled in the mechanical engineering program at UNM. Preference will be given to upper division students with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Include a copy of transcript and a one-page essay on Why I Want to Be an Engineer. |

HELEN ZIMMERMANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP -$1000 |
| The Helen Zimmermann Memorial Scholarship was established in 1993 by Karl H. Zimmermann, PE, in memory of his wife who believed women should be encouraged to become engineers. Recipients have strong academic records and have demonstrated a commitment to furthering engineering education on campus and in the community. The applicant must be a female student enrolled in the engineering program at UNM, NM Tech, or NMSU. The applicant must also be at least at the sophomore level in engineering, and demonstrate academic merit. Financial need will be a consideration. Include a letter of recommendation from at least one professor familiar with the student's academic work, and a letter of about 300 words, addressed to the scholarship committee, discussing the applicant's interest in engineering, field of study and future plans.

JIM AND POLLY WRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP -$500 |
| The Jim and Polly Wright Scholarship is sponsored by the Southeast Chapter of the New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers. Jim Wright was a graduate of New Mexico State University in civil engineering who joined NMSPE in 1957 and served the Southeast Chapter of the Society for over forty years. He was a founding member of the Southeast Chapter's annual MATHCOUNTS program in 1982. Jim received NMSPE's Ingeniero Veterano De Nuevo Mejico Award in 1984. Polly Wright was very active in the NMSPE auxiliary and assisted in planning for the annual meetings and in implementing the MATHCOUNTS competition each year. Jim and Polly were well known for their warm hospitality to NMSPE members at the annual meetings held in Roswell.
Criteria and selection:
-Must be a Senior or Junior in good standing enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering curriculum at either New Mexico State University (NMSU), New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMIMT), or University of New Mexico (UNM).
-Must have graduated from a high school within the southeast region of New Mexico, as defined by the following counties: Chaves, Curry, DeBaca, Roosevelt, Eddy, Lea, Lincoln, or Otero. Candidate must provide documentation of proof of residency (in the case of GED, or home school applicants).
-Preference will be given to the counties in which the NMSPE SE Chapter membership is represented (currently Eddy, Chaves, and Lea).
-Requires completion of NMEF application. Candidate must include county of residence on application.
-Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, or a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 for combined engineering, science, and mathematics courses (as measured on a 4.0 scale)
Selection of the recipient will be determined by the NMSPE Southeast Chapter scholarship selection committee. |

KATE WARDER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP- $1000 |
| The Kate Warder Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Kate Warder who passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 1995. Kate served as executive director of the New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers for 14 years and was instrumental in creating the New Mexico Engineering Foundation. The scholarship recognizes the many contributions that Kate made to the engineering profession in New Mexico as well as her commitment to engineering education.
Criteria and selection:
-The applicant shall be a full time engineering student enrolled at UNM, NMSU or NMIMT at the time of the application.
- The applicant should be of junior or senior status and have an overall GPA of at least 3.0/4.0. -
-The applicant shall be a resident of New Mexico.
-The applicant shall be a member of the student chapter of their respective engineering society.
-The applicant will be selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, participation in extra curricular activities, and financial need.
-The applicant shall submit a one page paper outlining their goals in engineering.
Each application shall include a letter of recommendation from at least one faculty member.
The recipients will be selected by the NMEF Scholarship Committee with participation by the Warder family. |

NEW MEXICO SOCIETY of PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS SCHOLARSHIP - (1) $2000 and (2) $1000 |
| The New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers - Albuquerque Chapter is offering four (4) $1000 scholarships to students enrolled in ABET accredited engineering programs at UNM or NMTech or a CNMCC student already accepted into one of the above engineering programs.
Criteria and selection:
-Applicant must be Sophomore or above. Graduate students in ABET accredited engineering programs at UNM or NMTech are also eligible.
-Engineering GPA must be 3.0 or above.
-Students must submit an official transcript, endorsed application and a letter of recommendation.
Financial need is considered, as well as extra-curricular activities, student involvement and current job status.
Selection of the recipients will be determined by the NMEF Scholarship Committee. |

| The following scholarships awarded through the New Mexico Engineering Foundation and affiliated organizations are designated for graduating seniors who plan to pursue degrees in engineering, math or science. Primary recruitment of applicants is through individual high schools throughout New Mexico. There is a separate application form for each high school scholarship. Due to renewability and/or availability of funding, there are some years when not all scholarships are offered.

| The New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers is offering one $1500 scholarship for a deserving New Mexico high school senior interested in pursuing an engineering career. The student will be selected for the award based on academic standing, participation in extra curricular activities, evidence of leadership, character and self-reliance. The applicant must be a high school senior and citizen of the United States; have a 3.0/4.0 GPA for the 10th, 11th and 12th grades; attain minimum test scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) (Math: 600 and Verbal: 500) or American College Testing Program (ACT) (Math: 29 and English: 25); and must plan to enroll and continue the study of engineering at a college or university having an engineering \ curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET). |

SOCIETY OF WOMEN ENGINEERS COLLEEN CONLEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP $1000 |
| This scholarship will be renewed this year, and no applications are being accepted for the Spring 2009 application period.
The Colleen Conley Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by the Central New Mexico Section of the Society of Women Engineers. Ms. Conley was a strong, lifelong advocate of equal opportunity for women in technical fields until her death from cancer in 1996. With a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamline University, Ms, Conley embarked on a technical career first as an aircraft maintenance technician in the Air Force, then as an engineering technician at Honeywell, and lastly, a software engineer at Intel. Throughout her career she devoted a great deal of time and energy to career guidance and hands on science and Engineering activities for young scientists. This scholarship was created based on Ms. Conley's wish that every aspiring female scientist or engineer have the opportunity to further her education, The scholarship is renewable for up to four years as long as the recipient maintains a grade point average greater than 2.5, is enrolled in. a college curriculum as a halftime (minimum) student, and completes sufficient coursework to maintain half time (minimum) progress toward a degree. As part of the award, the recipient will also receive membership dues for a student grade membership in the Society of Women Engineers.
Criteria and Selection
•Applicant must be a female, graduating, high school senior entering college as a freshmen.
•Field of study must be engineering, engineering technology or a field related to engineering, including scientific disciplines.
•Must have a high school GPA of 3.0/4.0 or better.
•Applicant does not need to be attending a NM university.
•Preference will be given to a student who is the first person in her immediate family within her generation to attend college.
•The entire application should consist of the following:
-The completed application form.
-A letter of about 300 words, addressed to the scholarship committee, discussing the applicant's interest in science or engineering and her future plans.
-A letter of recommendation from at least one teacher or counselor familiar with the student's academic work.
Selection of the recipient will be determined by the Central New Mexico Section of the Society of Women Engineers. |
